It was a bit underwhelming. Not as great as I thought it'd be, but still good.
This restaurant is just absolutely wonderful!! I have never had a bad experience here and the food is OH MY GAWD amazing!!! The owners are absolutely delightful and recognize many of their customers. It's just like eating at someone's house! I can never get enough of the Spring rolls and the pho is really incredible. It's definitely one of my favorite places.
Amazing food! Very fresh and delicious. Friendly service
I really talk about their customer service. Female yelled at us to ask for tip , since her terrible service attitude, we decide to not offer anything for her . Food is salty and small portion. Not recommended at all
Always fresh food that's so delicious. Owners are friendly and accommodating. Been going here for years
Always love coming here.. since I was a child. Great customer care, great food and have the best hostess ever. ❤️❤️❤️
Ibe been going here since 1993. Spring rolls are a favorite along w #69 with rice noodle
My absolute go-to for Vietnamese food. Delicious every time.
Delicious food and great service 😋
Foods so tasty
The pho broth was the saltiest tasting broth I’ve ever had. My boyfriend ordered mi bo kho and it tasted nothing like the real thing. Please do yourself a favor and walk down the block to Pho & Grill which taste like ACTUAL legit Vietnamese food..
Amazing food. Great service!!! Will go again
My favourite Vietnamese in Kansas City. I've been going here for twenty years!
I had been here once before and liked it. My second time did not go as well. I ordered the chicken and shrimp tamarind soup and the server mixed up my order and made it with tofu. I made the mistake of telling them they could just add the chicken and shrimp instead of remaking the soup. They did not say they would charge me extra for this. They made the mistake of giving me the wrong order and then ended up charging me more. I pointed out it had been their mistake but they insisted that that was fair. Also, the herbs were not very fresh.
We've loved this place for years and it's always delicious. It's family owned and consistently fresh, juicy chicken, great portions, and very flavorful.
Nothing fancy; straightforward service and delicious food. Lots of menu options - authentic!
Great food. One of my favorite things about KC. It’s hard to find quality Vietnamese food like this. This place is for people who have a more adventurous side when it comes to trying new foods. Not for people who don’t appreciate authentic Vietnamese cuisine.
Really enjoy the Vermicelli noodles with Egg Rolls & Pork! The Fried Sweet Potato & Shrimp are excellent!
Hien Vuong is owned and operated by a very lovely local family. They serve the most authentic Vietnamese food in Kansas City! Their menu is fantastic, try the #10 or the #26. We love to eat at Hien Vuong in the summertime on the picnic tables outside, or in the winter, it is our favorite place to eat spicy food and will clear the head. This wonderful place is a lifelong family favorite!
This is the most disgusting pho I have ever eaten. The broth is watery and overly sweet at the same time, a bad combination. It lacks any discernible beef flavor, it’s just sweet and anise. The dumplings and egg rolls are ok, but the sweet and sour fish sauce is plain weird, dumplings should be served with a soy based sauce. 10/10 will never order from here again.
Love this place! We’ve been going here for years.
Eggrolls are way too salty pricy and large size of pho is just like a small size
I love this place! Her pho is delicious! And the spring rolls are fabulous!
The food is good. The decor needs updated
Waited 10 minutes before I was asked if I wanted to order anything. Very slow service & very unfriendly help. Have gone here for many years but hadn't been in about 2 years. Service & food has gone down dramatically. I will most likely never return.
The food is great (I'm a vermicelli kinda gal). The only real negative for me is that the woman who runs the shop always seems irritated/angry but that could just be me
Best spring rolls ever! Very efficient and kind service.
Small location but the food was phenomenal.
Full disclosure, I always get the same thing. It's delicious, and I crave it. But the menu is far, far bigger - please try other items! The restaurant has been unchanged for years ... tables and chairs for 30 inside, with a concrete floor and some supplies visible in storage. The restroom is up the steep staircase in the storeroom. Family run. Drink - Cafe Sua Da ... Vietnamese iced coffee. Served in two tumblers: a glass of ice, and another with sweetened condensed milk in the bottom, and hot coffee dripping on top. Wait for the dripping to stop, then thoroughly stir the mixture together. Finally, pour over ice and enjoy. Fantastic.
Delicious! So many options and great service.
I've only had spring rolls and banh mi, but both were excellent. I'll be back as often as possible.
Not the worst restaurant, I'm solely reviewing on the Pho. I got the meatball pho. It had a very light color and there was no strong flavor to it. Would not pay $10 for it when there are 3 pho resturants around the block, that are better tasting. Not the best service. I did get a decent plate of veggies for the pho. There is a cost to refills but I asked for water. Did not get a refill for my water. No ac in the building. They dont bring you the bill so you have to go up to the front to pay, which isn't much of a problem for me. However, when I gave her my card to swipe, she said "are you going to leave a tip or no?" A little rude. However the food came out faster than expected. I wouldn't reccomend this place since there are other, better resturants in KC, just across the street.Wouldn't go back for the pho but I would go back to try the other menu items since city market resturants close around 7 anf they stay open a little later.
Server is always hurried, tea pots are stained and look dirty, veg plate was half the size it use to be. Watches a woman get pretty much yelled at because the order wasn't above $10 and she had a credit card. The broth was far less flavorful than previous trips ...still a nice option for a dive experience
My Mom and I started eating our Birthday lunches here and any time we were at the market this is our lunch spot now it's not just Mom and my birthday lunch spot it's my daughter's and granddaughters birthday lunch spot 30 years and counting !!
I love this...❣️
The best Vietnamese restaurant I have been too!! A hidden gem. Come here, you will be happy you did!
Great place to go in the city market. Large menu and good prices. Always love going to this place after grocery shopping in the city market.
I love there food
Great place to go for a change of pace, restaurant has an old-world feel. Friendly staff wonderful service.
Super delicious soups and the coffee was just wonderful. The server was attentive and sweet. Will definitely come again!
Love the food and the people. We've been going since I was a little girl and I'm 30 now and this is still a regular for us. The appetizers 2-3 are my always go to! One of the owners always recognizes us when we come and it makes it feel that much more special.
Small, cozy authentic Vietnamese restaurant that consistently serves fresh delicious food.
Probably the worst Pho in the KC area and I’ve been to 7-8 spots. The broth was watery. Don’t waste your money.
This is a family-operated restaurant and I like the late 8pm closing, most other places in City Market close at 7pm. I ordered the fried spring rolls and the "bun bo hue" beef soup. Although they had flavors, the soup lacked several important ingredients. So I wasn't too impressed with them. I'm probably not going to return anytime soon, but perhaps I should give them another visit to try out the pho.
Horrible service and bad Pho...it was way too salty!!! Didnt even smell like pho. Wonton soup was salty too.
This is some of the best pho in town.
I love this place this is my very favorite place! My grandkids enjoy it, as well as my kids, my sister, and many other family members! I have found over the years that I am a particular person and when I find something that I like I go there to eat! I have been coming to this establishment since 1994, this is a husband, wife, little old lady one room kitchen, establishment! In fact we have grandkids around the same age that have grown up through the years. Their daughter's work there when not studying for school, because it's a family restaurant. As far as I'm concerned it's the best Vietnamese food in town, with the best fish sauce anywhere, I buy it sometimes by the court and use it to marinate my meat or just use it as a topping of salad dressing! I tried for 20 plus years to get the recipe from her nah, she says it's her husband and he won't tell! So stop on by they have outside seating as well.
Lack of customer service. Pricey for the food. Maybe because is located in the city market.
Appears to be family owned and operated. Simple, old-world feel to the food and ambiance.
